FAQs

Q: What are the co-op meeting dates and times?

  • Coach Rockwall meets Fridays for 13 weeks in both the fall and spring semesters, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please plan to commit to attending regularly as part of our community.

Q: What if I’m new and unsure about teaching?

  • New families often begin by assisting or co-teaching before taking on a full teaching role. We offer support and training to help you grow confidently into your role within the co-op.

Q:  What age does my child need to be?

  • COACH is a school aged program (6 years old) with options for younger siblings.  We are not a preschool program.  You can get on our waitlist so that you are at the top once your oldest child is at least 6 years old.

Q: Am I able to baby wear or use a stroller the entire day instead of enrolling my infant (0-2) in the infant room?

  • No, every adult serves in a way that benefits the entire co-op. You will have at least 1 hour of serving in the Infant, PreK, or Kinder room. Babies are often a distraction in class, which is why the nursery is provided. A mom can step into the nursery to soothe her child temporarily, but this cannot happen frequently. If your baby or toddler has never been away from you, this may be a challenging transition. We encourage families to prepare their little ones ahead of time so they are comfortable in the nursery for short periods. This helps ensure that both the parent and child have a positive experience, while keeping the classroom focused and uninterrupted. Our goal is to provide a safe, comforting place for your child while allowing parents to participate fully in co-op.

Q:  I work Full Time and occasionally need to take care of business.  How can I do this on co-op days?

  • Because Coach Rockwall operates as a fully parent-led co-op, all participating adults are expected to be fully present and engaged in their assigned roles throughout the day. Personal work (including phone or computer use) should not be done during your serving hours.

  • We understand that emergencies or urgent matters occasionally arise. In those cases, a hall monitor may be able to briefly step in so you can step away. However, consistent or regular work-related absences are not compatible with our co-op structure.

  • We ask all families to prayerfully consider whether they can commit to being fully available during co-op hours before joining.

Q:  Can my student attend, if I/parent will be absent?

  • Since Coach Rockwall is a parent-led cooperative, active parent involvement and presence are critical for each co-op day. Students in 1st grade and above may attend only if accompanied by a designated guardian—such as the other parent or an approved adult member of Coach Rockwall—who has agreed to take full responsibility for supervision during the day.

  • We maintain a mandatory attendance rate of 85% to ensure consistency and community engagement. Because of the importance of parental participation, regular absences without appropriate guardianship are not permitted.

Q:  How can my child switch to another class?

  • No. Registration is considered complete and closed once an order is processed.  There are finite exceptions which typically result in the student leaving 1 class and then placed in study hall.

Q: What curriculum do you use?

  • Coach Rockwall offers a variety of Christian-based curricula tailored to each class and teacher. To help families make informed decisions, we provide detailed curriculum information in each class description prior to registration. This way, you’ll know exactly what materials and resources will be used before signing up.

Q:  What is my responsibility if I am absent as a teacher?

  • You must find yourself a sub. As the teacher, you provide a detailed class plan along with all materials to the sub.
